Poem by Sylvia Lupien
Marks of the moon
Are etched in this tomb
Those Druids measured light
To tell day and night
Julie Lupien Nussbaum is an interdisciplinary artist exploring prehistoric rituals and symbols. Celtic culture developed sophisticated astronomy before a written language. This curb stone is carved with runes celebrating the Solstice at Knowth passage tomb.
She has been working with clay for years at the Harvard Ceramics Program. To bring life to her vision of a standing stone that can communicate with light, she is collaborating with SyncroSystems, a local imbedded systems engineering firm, who are donating programming time to the project.
